Interactive Play Therapy
Many
children go through difficult times such as divorcing parents, trouble making friends, or adjusting to other changes at school
or home. Some children need more help than others to get through these periods of need. Play therapy to children is what counseling
is to adults. It is not the same thing as playing. It allows and uses the child's natural tendancy to "play out"
their reactions to real-life situations. This allows counselors to communicate on child's level through the child's
natural medium of expression. Children may not have the vocabulary or the knowledge to express what is bothering them. The
toys are carefully chosen to bring about creative and emotional expression from the child. The ultimate goal is to help teh
child feel accepted and understood and gain a sense of control or understanding of their difficult situation. Family and other
support resources are encouraged in treatment.
Sexual Abuse/ Inappropriate Sexual Behaviors
The
objectives and topics in this program include establishing appropriate sexual behavior rules, defining personal
space and boundaries, understanding maltreatment, self-disclosure, sex education, identifying good and bad touching, a prevention
plan, impulse control techniques and event sequencing, and gender identity. Family and other support resources are encouraged
in treatment.

communities. We offer services that assist in trauma resiliency and post-traumatic stress. Our focus is to give support to
the person in what they are feeling, understand the behaviors that are resulting, and recognize the development of triggers
or symptoms related to the traumatic event. The program will incorporate goals of intervention for resolution to those responses
